Chevy 350 Rebuild CID Engines Instructions

1. Drain the cooling system. Disconnect all the hoses within the cooling system by loosening the clamps with a straight screwdriver. Disconnect and remove the starter. Drain the oil and remove the oil filter.

Take away the hood by eradicating the four bolts securing it to the hinges. Disconnect and remove the air consumption hoses and air filter box. Take away the power steering hoses by turning the flare nut fittings with a flare nut wrench counterclockwise, loosening the clamp on the return hose and eradicating the hose from the nipple. Drain the hoses into the identical pan the engine oil was drained into.

3. Take away the air conditioning condenser without disconnecting the hoses. Take away the bolts securing the air-con compressor to the block and raise the condenser and compressor away from the engine. They are often set on a fender cowl to guard the paint. Take away the battery and cables. Take away the throttle cable from the throttle physique or carburetor.

4. Take away linkages, vacuum hoses, electrical connectors, speedometer cable and rear transmission mount from transmission. Disconnect and remove the driveshaft. Take away the exhaust manifolds. Place the block of wooden on the jack pad and place the jack under the engine oil pan. Raise the jack to support the engine. Take away the bolt securing every motor mount to the frame mount. Connect both end of the hoist strap/chain on the front and rear of the engine, clipping the strap/chain into the hoist hook.

5. Raise the engine out of the car. The front of the engine will should be larger than the rear to permit the transmission to be eliminated with the engine. Take away the alternator, power steering pump, water pump and any brackets from the front of the engine. Take away the bolts securing the transmission to the engine; separate and lower the transmission. Connect the engine stand to the rear of the engine with four bolts. Take away the lifting strap/chain from the engine and move the engine hoist out of the best way.

6. Disassemble the engine and clear all the components completely. Examine the pistons, crankshaft, camshaft and valves to find out what wants substitute and what may be reconditioned.

7. Reassemble the engine, paying cautious consideration to correct torque specs and sequences.

8. Reinstall the engine, reversing steps 1 through 5.
